Kwara State Governor Prioritises Bursary And Scholarship Scheme

In a bid to improve the educational system in the country the of Kwara State Governor Alhaji Abdulfatah Ahmed has taken a bold step in this direction by making it public that his administration will prioritize Bursary and Scholarship awards to students in the year 2017. He further explained that this initiative is to encourage its indigenes studying in several tertiary institutions across the country, as it is one of the aims and objectives of his administration to boost the educational status of the people of Kwara State.

The Governor also stated that this will encourage the students benefiting from this initiative to work harder and excel in their various fields as the bursary and scholarship awards is based on merits. This statement was made by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and communications, Dr. Muyideen Akorede. 

Governor Alhaji Ahmed stated that in the Kwara State budget proposal for 2017, that the sum of 500million has been marked for bursaries while 450million is allocated for scholarship awards which is currently before the State House of Assembly awaiting approval.
 
The governor further assured the people that immediately the budget is passed and signed into law, its administration will commence with the phased disbursement of the scholarships and bursaries.
In an attempt to assure the people that the state government has taken several steps to making sure that this process is a success, the Government revealed that so far it has obtained the list of students who are Kwara State indigenes from all tertiary institutions in Nigeria; This according to him will created a direct access to all beneficiaries of the scheme.

Lastly the State Government apologised for not being able to pay for the bursaries and scholarships last year while the Governor also commended the students for their patience and maturity.
