Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun, Ogun State, has rusticated 31 students and indefinitely suspended 47 others for various academic and behavioral misconduct. The university’s Registrar, Dapo Oke, announced that the decision was made during the Senate meeting held on July 31, 2024. Following thorough investigations by the university’s Examination Malpractice and Students’ Disciplinary Committee, the recommended penalties were approved. This information was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 3, according to Channels Television.
The affected students have been advised to remain off-campus to avoid potential confrontations with university security personnel.
During the Senate meeting, it was decided that Ojo Michael, a 200-level student in the Computer Science Department, would be rusticated for the 2023/2024 academic session for forging his CGPA to contest in the Student Union Elections. Additionally, 17 students were rusticated for examination malpractice, five for issuing threats to life, and one for fraudulent activities.
The university also suspended 47 students indefinitely for various forms of misconduct, with an additional ten students penalized for impersonation. The Ogun State-owned institution warned that any student found guilty of misconduct would face severe consequences according to the university’s rules and regulations.
